Well done!

Well done also to our hurling and camogie panels who both had great seasons winning County titles. It just shows that hard work and determination pays off. The boys and girls put in a big effort during the year and got their just reward.

Neven Maguire Fundraiser Event

Sincere thanks for all your support for the Neven Maguire fundraiser. It was great to sell so many tickets and to see such a great crowd turn up on the night. Well done to our Parents Association for all the work that went into organizing the event.

Well done!

Well done also to our 6th class pupils who made their Confirmation in May. Thanks to Fr. David who conducted a lovely ceremony on the day.

Our Fís Film

Our Fís Film was successful in Laois Education Centre Competition recently, winning an award for best Cinematography. Well done to all the children who took part and thanks to Mr. Madden for all his help on the project. It now goes forward to the national stages of the competition, where we hope it can do well.

First Communion

Well done also to our 2nd class pupils who made their First Communion in May.

Other news from school year 2015/2016


Pride of place goes to our hurlers who were part of the Féile Panel who won the All-Ireland against O’Callaghan’s Mills/Bodyke of Clare last weekend. This was a fantastic achievement by players and mentors alike. Well done to all.

Well done also to former pupils Brendan Hoctor and Ryan Hogan who were part of an Offaly U.17 team that defeated Kilkenny last weekend.



Well done to all our winners in the Write a Book Competition and indeed to all who took part.



We had French and German lessons again this year for 1st – 6th classes which proved a very enjoyable experience for all the children involved.



A new experience this year was Pilates with Mrs. Martin. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the classes and are looking forward to doing it again at some point.



School tours have all taken place recently with all the children experiencing a fun day out.



Our 2-3 club ran very successfully this year and we will provide this service again next year.



We undertook our annual “pilgrimage” to Lough Boora recently with 4th, 5th & 6th classes. All managed to complete the 20km cycle on the day. Well done to all who took part and thanks to all those parents who provided transport on the day.



We had a number of sessions this year on Health and Nutrition with two students from Athlone I.T. One of whom was Sarah McCarthy, a former pupil of our school. These we very informative and interactive with a sports session included each day.



Tag Rugby lessons continued this year and we hope to have the coach with us again in the autumn.



Swimming lessons took place for the usual six weeks this year and we hope to provide the same opportunity again this coming year.



Our 6th class graduation evening took place recently. Thanks to Fr. David for his attendance on the night. Sincere thanks to the boys and girls and their parents for the clock received on the night. It is much appreciated. We wish all our 6th class pupils the very best as they progress on to the next step in their education and in their lives.



Well done to all our pupils who put in so much work during Bóthar this year. As usual, a huge variety of tasks were undertaken to raise money for charity. Thanks also to all the parents who baked and helped in many different ways.



We were successful again recently in the Tidy Schools Competition. Our prize was for the most consistently Tidy Schools in North Tipperary. Thanks to all on the roster who help keep our school tidy and to Ita and Noel for their tireless work also.



Fred the Clown / Magician was with us again recently. The children enjoyed his tricks and instrument playing.



Mrs. Burke hosted a fundraiser for the Downs Syndrome Association of Ireland recently. It was part of the Ice Cream Fundays campaign.



The girls who took part in basketball with Miss Fox travelled to Clareen N.S. recently and played a number of fun games on the day.



Gymnastics lessons with Mrs. Feehan were very popular again this year and we look forward to having her with us again next year.



Pottery lessons with Finn were a fun and lively affair and again we hope to have him with us next year.



The visit from and lessons with members of the Céile Community earlier this year, as part of the parish mission was a very enjoyable experience for the children. They had an opportunity to explore their faith and a fun an easy-going environment and it turned out to be a very positive an enriching experience overall.




We took part in the FAI 5-a side soccer tournament this year for the first time. Both boys and girls teams were runners up on the day and both squads acquitted themselves very well on the day.



Our 1916 flag-raising ceremony was a very enjoyable and unusual occasion. Our thanks for your support on the day. Well done to all the boys and girls who entertained us on the day and who put a lot of work into their own proclamation and the projects they undertook around 1916.

Thanks to Siobhan Webb who helped the children make beautiful banners, which were displayed in the church for both ceremonies.
